At the European Show Jumping Championship, the audience will be able to enjoy performances by the national team.
A Coruña, July 9, 2025
The Longines FEI European Show Jumping Championship arrives in Spain for the third time (Gijón, 1993, and Madrid, 2011), and the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre, located in Arteixo, A Coruña, will be the venue hosting one of the most eagerly awaited competitions for equestrian sport fans.
The Galician venue will welcome more than 90 riders from 23 different countries, all ready to give their best in the fight for individual and team gold.
The Spanish team comes to Casas Novas aiming to improve on the fifth-place finish they achieved at the last European Championship held in Milan.
Leading the team are established horse-and-rider duos who are very familiar with the Casas Novas arena: from Murcia, Mariano Martínez Bastida, the top-ranked Spanish rider by the FEI and leader of the national RFHE ranking, will compete with JUP. With over 30 international Grand Prix events under his belt, Martínez Bastida has become a standout at both the winter and summer editions of Casas Novas, where he has competed on numerous occasions.
Also returning from the team that secured fifth place in Milan—finishing ahead of powerhouses like Switzerland—is another rider representing Spain this year: Armando Trapote.
Armando will compete at Casas Novas with Tornado, the horse he rode at the European Championship in Milan and in a long list of international competitions. A reliable pair, they bring valuable experience to the Spanish team and will surely attract a great deal of attention from the audience.
Teresa Blázquez Abascal will be the only female rider on the national squad. The rider from Cádiz has chosen Nasa de Toxandria as her mount—a solid and dependable partnership that will contribute precision and consistency to the team.
The lineup is completed by riders Hugo Álvarez Amaro and Iván Serrano Sáez, who will compete with Casaspezia and Rain Man, respectively.
This will be the team that, starting on July 16, will fight to reach the podium at Casas Novas, in front of their home crowd, to whom they are sure to offer a thrilling show.
