Everything Ready at Casas Novas for the Start of the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship

The horses have arrived at the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre in A Coruña, which is fully prepared to host one of the most prestigious competitions on the European circuit.

This Wednesday, 16 July, the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship will get underway at the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre in A Coruña. The venue is ready to welcome this major event, which will capture the attention of equestrian fans from around the world.

Between Sunday and Monday, 158 horses settled into the Casas Novas stables, where the top horse-and-rider combinations from across Europe will compete in both the individual and team competitions.

On Monday afternoon, the grooms — who travelled with the horses from all over Europe — were able to enjoy the “Grooms’ Welcome,” a welcome dinner where they could relax and unwind before the competition begins in earnest.

Throughout Tuesday morning, all championship horses will undergo the mandatory veterinary inspection before competing. This check will ensure that each horse is fit to jump in the Casas Novas arena without risk, including a general health check, a trot-up evaluation, and a review of each horse’s identity, vaccinations, and behaviour.

Following this inspection, the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship will officially begin on Wednesday, 16 July at 15:00 with a speed class at heights of 1.50–1.55 m: the Checkpoint Trophy.
