Casas Novas: gearing up for the European Championship

A benchmark in the international equestrian scene, the Galician venue celebrates its 25th anniversary by hosting one of the season's most prestigious competitions.

A Coruña, July 12, 2025 – Located in Larín, Arteixo (A Coruña), the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre first opened its doors in the year 2000. Today, 25 years later, the outstanding quality of its facilities and its organizational excellence have made it a global reference point on the equestrian circuit, and a favorite among riders, horses, and, of course, the public.

Its privileged location, with ideal weather conditions for equestrian sport, makes it the perfect setting to host two international jumping competitions each year: the outdoor summer edition and the indoor winter edition, the latter being one of the stages of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup.

From July 16 to 20, Casas Novas will become the third Spanish venue in history to host the FEI European Jumping Championship, following in the footsteps of Gijón and Madrid. Nearly one hundred riders will compete for a place at the top of the podium on the outdoor arena of the Galician centre, which is now fully prepared to welcome the world’s best horse-and-rider pairs, spectators, and international media covering this prestigious event.

To ensure everything meets the standards of a championship of this magnitude, Casas Novas has undergone a complete renovation of its facilities. Among other improvements, a new outdoor warm-up arena has been built, connecting directly to a 7x500 m galloping track and the training ring, where riders will complete their final jumps before entering the spectacular main outdoor competition arena — a favorite among riders thanks to its generous 65x100 m dimensions and adaptability to all weather conditions.

With spectators in mind, the grandstand has been expanded to increase capacity, allowing more fans to enjoy the thrill of the championship from the front row. Additional amenities include new parking areas and an expanded press room, ready to host media representatives from various countries and ensure top-level international coverage.

The Casas Novas estate, spanning more than eight hectares, also includes an indoor arena, six training arenas — three covered and three outdoor — and a stable system designed to offer the highest comfort to horses. Every detail is carefully planned to make each championship a unique experience for riders, teams, and fans alike.

But Casas Novas is about more than elite sport. Over the past 25 years, it has built a legacy grounded in social commitment and community roots. Its competitions have gone beyond sport to become cultural and social gatherings, reflecting the welcoming and inclusive spirit of both the venue and the community that surrounds it.

Moreover, Casas Novas is committed to sustainability and circular economy practices, including self-produced hay, continuous recycling, and manure donation to local farmers. In doing so, the centre strengthens its connection to the rural environment and integrates into the local community in a respectful and sustainable way.

Here, tradition and innovation, sport and community, excellence and accessibility coexist in harmony. Casas Novas approaches this European Championship with the ambition of continuing to put A Coruña on the international map. Once again, the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre shows how sport can unite an entire region and become a driving force for development and social cohesion.
